For the first time in history, Verona hosts on May 1st at the AGSM Forum the men’s and women’s super finals of one of the most important tournaments of the world volleyball season: the CEV Champions League.
The Super Finals format represent a real revolution for European Volleyball, with the first two teams per gender playing on the same day, in the same venue, for the most important trophy of European club competitions. The city of Verona is not new to have hosted great stages of the volleyball world events, with the recent finals of the cup in 2010 for the men’s field and in 2014 for the women’s field, together with a round-robin of the 2014 FIBV Volleyball Women’s World Championships.
"After a turbulent year for the entire volleyball community and beyond, we can look forward with optimism to a great new event. In this very special moment, our Volleyball family could not ask for a better partner than the Italian Volleyball Federation to make the second edition of our unique Super Finals. I would like to thank FIPAV and its management as well as the Local Organizing Committee of the city of Verona for their willingness to organize such an important event even in such difficult and challenging times," said CEV President Aleksandar Boricic.
