Puccini's most famous opera drama in three acts is back, characterized by the rich staging of the Fondazione Arena di Verona in a magical setting, with the fairytale scenery created by the late Franco Zeffirelli and with the costumes of the Oscar Award winner Emi Wada.

The story is set in China, in Beijing, in a mythical "time of fairy tales". The protagonist of the drama is the beautiful Princess Turandot whose soul is lonely because of the burden she has to bear: in fact, she harbors the spirit of her ancestor who was raped and killed. This is the reason why Turandot unleashes discomfort and horror towards men. But fate will manage to pierce Turandot's heart and a passionate kiss will crown the love between the beautiful princess and Calaf, ousted Tartar prince, daring champion of Cupid.

Stirring and passionate, Giacomo Puccini’s latest opera is certainly one of the most beautiful love stories of all time, between love and hope. One of the opera’s most famous arias is “Nessun dorma”, a romance sung by the character of Calaf at the beginning of Act III, when he finally has the chance to win the love of Turandot, the ice princess.
