Colle Santa Lucia

Colle Santa Lucia (Col in Ladin, Verseil in German) is one of the 18 municipalities that make up Ladinia, a Ladin speaking community located around the Sella group.

Located in the heart of the UNESCO Dolomites, at an altitude of 1453 m, among the majestic massifs of Marmolada, Civetta and Pelmo, Colle Santa Lucia offers a unique atmosphere where time seems to stand still. In summer, you can enjoy the fragrance of cut grass and flowers and venture out on hikes through the woods and high altitude pastures. The Alta Via dell'Orso is a naturalistic and cultural excursion that winds along the slopes of Monte Pore in the locality of Colle Santa Lucia, tracing the path of the famous novel "La pelle dell'orso” (The Bear Skin) by Matteo Righetto.

The spectacular Passo Giau - Jof de Giau in Ladin - is a pass much loved by hikers, cyclists and motorcyclists. Here the pastures of Colle Santa Lucia and San Vito di Cadore meet those of Cortina d'Ampezzo.

The Giau has always been the stage of cycling races, as the site of one of the celebrated and legendary passes of the Giro d'Italia, and motorbike races.

In winter, there is the thrill of skiing, thanks to the Lagazuoi-Cinque Torri ski area and the Super 8 sky tour, but you can also enjoy the white season with snowshoes on your feet or even go snowkiting.
