From 8 July to 9 September 2023, for a total of 6 performances, it will be staged for the 100th Opera Festival La Traviata.

Verdi's opera returns to the Arena in the last and sumptuous 19th century production conceived by late director Franco Zeffirelli with costumes by Maurizio Millenotti and choreographies by Giuseppe Picone. The beautiful courtesan Violetta Valéry is portrayed on stage by the sopranos Nina Minasyan, Lisette Oropesa, Nadine Sierra and Anna Netrebko, while the tenors Francesco Meli, Vittorio Grigolo and Freddie De Tommaso are playing the young Alfredo Germont.

The opera in three acts by Giuseppe Verdi, with a libretto by Francesco Maria Piave, is set in bohemian Paris at the end of the 19th century and tells the love story between the woman of the world Violetta Valery and Alfredo Germont. Under pressure from Alfredo's father, Giorgio, and with no way out, the woman writes a distraught letter to Alfredo explaining her nostalgia for her beloved Paris. Alfredo, angry with rage, perjures her in front of everyone by throwing money at her feet. Once the truth is known, the man runs to ask her forgiveness, but she, sick of consumption, after seeing him for the last time, dies.
