From April 5 to July 13, 2025 the Santa Caterina Museum hosts the exhibition Magdalene and the Cross. Sublime Love. Through over a hundred works, the exhibition focuses on the artistic representations of Christ and Mary Magdalene, offering a glimpse into the profound tensions of the human condition, between passion, redemption, and love.

The exhibition route spans time, from the 13th to the 20th century, bringing together masterpieces by artists such as Titian, Canova, Guercino, and Sebastiano Ricci. Among the protagonists are also Jacopo Bassano, Paolo Veronese, Mosè Bianchi, and Alberto Martini, who is honored on the centenary of his birth. Each work tells a nuance of the emotional complexity of Mary Magdalene, an emblematic figure capable of embodying sin and redemption, sacredness and humanity.

The exhibition is organized into twelve sections that offer a rich and varied itinerary, featuring paintings, sculptures, goldsmithing, and liturgical vestments. Among the displayed works stand out the miniatures from the Bible of San Paolo and the wooden sculptures from the Treviso Civic Museums, restored and never before presented to the public. Mary Magdalene emerges as a universal symbol of transformation and hope, an archetype that transcends the barriers of time and religion. The Cross and the Magdalene become metaphors of suffering and rebirth, offering a reflection that goes beyond the historical and artistic dimension.
