Giuseppe Verdi's masterpiece on the Ethiopian princess enslaved in Egypt, with transparencies, plays of light and rich symbology suspended between Ancient Egypt and contemporary art, will be staged for 10 performances, from 14 June to 1 August 2024. A multifaceted and modern staging, able to speak to everyone, balanced between classic Egyptian iconography and the stylistic innovations of Paco Rabanne, Roberto Capucci and Damien Hirst.
Composed in 1869 on the occasion of the inauguration of the Suez Canal, Aida by Giuseppe Verdi narrates the love affairs of young Aida, daughter of the King of Ethiopia but enslaved by Amneris, daughter of the Pharaoh of Egypt. In love (and in return) with the brave Radamès, promised to Amneris, Aida follows him until his tragic death, showing him love and fidelity. Source: IAT Verona
