Exactly 111 years after its first performance in the Arena, the historical edition of Aida is staged in the 1913's version with original scenes by Ettore Fagiuoli.

Recovered in 1982 by Gianfranco de Bosio, Giuseppe Verdi's masterpiece on the Ethiopian princess enslaved in Egypt (now the longest-lived in the history of Arena) will allow for five evenings to immerse in the vintage atmosphere that, at the beginning of the twentieth century, accompanied the creation of the Festival itself.

Composed in 1869 on the occasion of the inauguration of the Suez Canal, Aida by Giuseppe Verdi narrates the love affairs of young Aida, daughter of the King of Ethiopia but enslaved by Amneris, daughter of the Pharaoh of Egypt. In love (and in return) with the brave Radamès, promised to Amneris, Aida follows him until his tragic death, showing him love and fidelity.
