Pedemontana Vicentina (Vicenza Foothills)

Magical countryside, but also ancient villages and Venetian villas

The Pedemontana Vicentina is an area at the foot of the Asiago Plateau and slowly winds it way through hills and valleys, with a variety of beautiful landscapes and panoramic views.

Many Venetian villas can be found within this beautiful countryside, some of them designed by the famous architect Andrea Palladio and included in the UNESCO World Heritage List.  Specifically, these are the ‘Godi Malinverni’ Villa and the ‘Piovene di Lonedo’ Villa, both in Lugo di Vicenza.

In the historical villages of Pedemontana Vicentina, rural churches and ancient oratorios rich in art bear witness to the areas's history and culture.

There is also evidence of the Great War fought at the edges of the plateaus, as commemorated by the various museums and other cultural pathways.

With its museums and special places for children, the many paths and routes to follow on foot, bicycle or horseback, the historical villages and villas, the Pedemontana Vicentina is certainly a place full of discovery and an unforgettable experience for all!

But even your tastebuds need a little tickle! Here, you can find food and wine products, renowned across Europe, such as Asiago DOP cheese,  Sopressa Vicentina DOP salami, Bassano del Grappa DOP white asparagus and Marostica IGP cherries. Many high quality delicacies with just as many recipes.  And on the tables of the local eateries, you will always find the fine Gambellara DOC, Lessini Durello, and Breganze wines.
