From 1st March to 30th June 2024 Museo Nazionale Collezione Salce in San Gaetano presents the second episode of the exhibition “Paper Futurism”.

After the first part, dedicated to "Forms of the Avant-garde", the second phase concerns "Imagine the universe with the art of advertising" and focuses on the 1930s and 1940s.

In the posters the main feature is the innovation in the transportation world, evidence of the great industrial development in the fields of aviation and boating during the Fascist period.

The exhibition introduces several posters that offer the perfect opportunity to discover the second stage of Futurist graphics, reflecting the climate of the time when national pride was high and distinctive, boosted by Fascist propaganda. Baracca's aerial battles, aeronautical demonstrations, and the automobile-airplane combination aiming at speed become the main elements and are perfectly illustrated by the Futurist movement, with influences that bring us close to Surrealism.

Moreover, it doesn’t even miss the movement expressed by the body, symbolized by the momentum towards sporting activities and the human figure symbol of industrialization in the new Italy. Another very present subject is the human face, made in an almost cubist sense and sometimes represented in a dreamlike and irrational dimension, that of dreams.

The exhibition is open to the public from Friday to Sunday, from 10.00 to 18.00.
