Chiaretto di Bardolino is the pink wine of the Veneto side of Lake Garda. Its origin dates back to Roman times, when the use of the wine press was introduced in the imperial rustic villas of Lake Garda, which allowed the grapes to be pressed without the wine taking on a dark colour, remaining instead a 'vinum clarum' or 'Claretum', i.e. a 'light wine' or 'Chiaretto'.

The area where Chiaretto first spread was most probably that portion of the Bardolino hills around the church of San Vito di Cortelline and the Rocca. The church of San Vito, in fact, as well as displaying Longobard sculptures dedicated to wine, stands on the remains of a Roman villa, in which wine was certainly produced using the wine press. By choice of the Bardolino municipality, the entire area around the Rocca di Bardolino, from the church of San Vito to the Romanesque church of San Pietro, passing by the Camaldolese Hermitage, the former San Colombano Priory and the Tusini Salesian Institute, has been known as the Chiaretto di Bardolino area for a few years now. It is in that same green area, entirely overlooking the lake, that the Chiaretto di Bardolino Run will take place.

Chiaretto di Bardolino Run is a non-competitive footrace organised by VRM TEAM ASD in cooperation with the Bardolino Chiaretto and Bardolino Consortium, the Bardolino municipal authorities and the Bardolino TOP Foundation. The start and finish will be at Istituto Salesiano Tusini, Bardolino.
