Birdwatching


To make the first steps, binoculars and a guide to the recognition of the species suffice and voila: anyone can go birdwatching. This English word that has now become part of the Italian vocabulary, means to observe birds in freedom, in their natural environment.  A hobby that can easily be done throughout all seasons of the year and anywhere, even in our cities, because all the environments are populated by numerous species.

Expert birdwatchers can distinguish the song, the verses, the shapes and the plumage of birds and has basic notions on their behaviour: they know when to hide to understand the movements of migratory species and closely follow the habits of the non-migratory ones.

Birdwatching lovers can find lots of areas in Veneto where they can practise their passion in a variety of climates and environments that allow the observation of over 400 bird varieties.

There are also numerous occasions to participate in guided excursions, suitable for novice birdwatchers: expert observers are available to reveal the secrets of the various areas, by introducing such an activity in close contact with nature.



The Po Delta Park

The Po Delta is one of the most popular destinations for birdwatchers because this protected area is characterized by an extraordinary ornithological heritage with almost 400 species of aquatic, non-migratory, migratory, and birds of passage that can be observed in every corner of the area.

Vallevecchia

A nature reserve situated between Caorle and Bibione, at the mouth of the rivers Livenza and Tagliamento. It is a very rich area, an ideal habitat for many species, principally those of birds, with a population of more than 250 species. Such a corner of paradise that the European Union has recognized it as a Special Protection Area and a Site of Community Importance.

Dolomiti Bellunesi National Park

This protected area since 1990 is characterised by a great variety of flora and fauna. This makes the area particularly interesting for those who want to get closer to nature by practising slow tourism and especially birdwatching. Over 115 species of birds have a safe haven within the Park.
