Misurina Lake, located in the homonymous hamlet of Auronzo di Cadore, is the largest natural water basin in the whole Cadore area and the one that mostly attracts visitors from all over the world. It is rightly considered a pearl set among the UNESCO World Heritage Dolomites because its waters reflect some of the most beautiful Dolomite peaks: the spires of the Cadini, the iconic Three Peaks of Lavaredo, Monte Cristallo and the Sorapis Massif.

An enchanting place whose birth is told by many legends. According to one, Misurina, the daughter of King Sorapis, used to live in this area. The young woman was willing to do anything to obtain the magical mirror of the Crystal fairy, so one day in exchange for the mirror she had her father transformed into a mountain; when King Sorapis became a rock, Misurina cried so much that her tears flowed down the valley forming the lake that today bears her name.

This enchanting body of water is the starting point for many adventures: during the winter snow sports lovers can choose among different ski slopes and trails to follow with snowshoes or cross-country skis. In the summer the Dolomites disclose all their beauty to the full. In addition to the numerous hiking trails, there is a jeep service that can take you on Monte Piana to visit the Museum of the Great War.

Lake Antorno, a small but fascinating body of water populated by rare flora-faunal species, is at a short distance from Misurina.
