Villa Contarini in Piazzola sul Brenta returns to host one of the most mouth-watering events in Veneto: CASEUS VENETI, scheduled this year for Saturday 28th and Sunday 29th September. All the masterful Venetian dairy products are on offer but with a new feature: the first national competition dedicated to Formaggi di Fattoria and Formaggi della Montagna. The aim of this was to give more recognition again to the shepherd/cheesemaker and also to the origins of cheesemaking technology, with particular attention on mountainous areas. More than 70 dairy farms with 400 cheeses in the running.
The main contenders of this 15th edition of CASEUS VENETI will be the Consortiums for the Protection of PDO cheeses: Asiago, Casatella Trevigiana, Montasio, Monte Veronese, Piave, Provolone Valpadana and Mozzarella STG under the guidance of the Grana Padano Consortium.
Among the initiatives that will promote the qualities of the huge production of local produce, there will be the cooking shows "Cheeses seen from afar", providing educational and in-depth moments such as live cheese making with the cheesemakers and guided tastings alongside wine and grappa. There will also be masterclasses held by chef Michel Basaldella, tastings of pizza with PDO cheeses made by world champion Gianni Calaon and also tastings of tiramisu prepared by world champion Diletta Scandiuzzi. In addition to cheeses, there will be wines, beers, chocolates, cured meats and much more in the shop area.
For free entry, you need to book in advance.
