Giardino Pojega

HISTORICAL GARDENS OF THE VENETO REGION

Valsanzibio

With the arrival of summer, the temptation is to spend more time outdoors, perhaps to discover some historical and natural treasures of particular beauty.

In this sense, the Veneto region has many opportunities, with beautiful historic gardens to discover and visit.

Let's start with the Giardino di Valsanzibio, the garden overlooking the beautiful Villa Barbarigo. Located in Galzignano Terme (PD), it is also known for having a large labyrinth.
To encourage you to visit it - in addition to its history dating back to 1600 and the project of the papal architect Luigi Bernini (brother of the famous Gian Lorenzo) - suffice it to say that it is known as " The Little Versailles" and "The Pearl of the Euganean Hills".

Also in the province of Padua, in the locality of Vanzo, there is the Giardino di Villa Giustiniani. The Villa, built in 1500 by the noble Venetian family Giustiniani, includes a park with various plants that are over a hundred years old and a rose garden with many varieties of roses. We recommend a visit in May, to see the beautiful flowering.

Moving on to Verona, we find the sixteenth-century Giardino Giusti, with its adjoining Palazzo. Visited over the centuries by prominent figures in history and culture, from its lookout it offers one of the most beautiful views of the city of lovers. In addition to the flower collections and Roman finds, the Garden includes a small labyrinth that is among the oldest in Europe.

In the same province, in Negrar di Valpolicella, we find the Giardino di Pojega, built in 1700 by Count Rizzardi to promote new cultural trends with an impressive project. Combining the classic canons of the Italian garden with the trends of the emerging Romanticism, this garden offers four main paths, all to explore.

The Giardini Alessandro Rossi, located in the homonymous Villa in Santorso, Vicenza, is also worth a mention. Expansive and endowed with numerous different botanical species, the Park includes a spectacular lake surrounded by secular trees. These gardens ensure a visit experience suitable for everyone.
