This remarkable retrospective exhibition dedicated to Robert Doisneau, one of the greatest photographers of the international Twentieth century, by Gabriel Bauret sponsored by Cassa di Risparmio di Padova e Rovigo Foundation, will be open until 30 January 2022.
Much of Robert Doisneau's work is recognisable by his iconic black and white images of the poor districts and suburbs of Paris. A city and humanity captured by the attentive eye of a humanist photographer, whose work is the expression of his deeply felt humanism.
Doisneau is not merely a witness: his approach to humanity is far more complex than the simple lightness that one tends to associate with his work. Doisneau shares the pleasure he feels in creating works inspired by the atmosphere of humble contexts, the world of labourers, the Parisian society living on the edge of wealthy neighbourhoods, where the case enters his theatre.
Yet another reason why these "snapshots" retain their freshness and excite even the observers of today, who are swept back in time as through by magic into moments that the photographer has made eternal.
Opening times: from Monday to Thursday from 9am to 7pm
