Tradition, the art of making dairy products and the excellence of raw materials are the soul of Caseus Veneti 2021, the competition for dairy products of Veneto region to be held on September 25 and 26 at Villa Contarini in Piazzola sul Brenta.
The best of what this industry has to offer will be on show with a program dedicated to consumers, families, sector operators and all those who appreciate good raw materials.
An array of flavours will be available at many different events: from cooking shows to tutored tastings, pizza made with PDO cheeses and the new competition where pubs and sandwich bars will be competing to win the best PDO Panino Veneto award.
The prize-giving ceremony in 39 categories will take place on Saturday, 25 September, where leading DO companies together and even very small typical producers, Slow food stands, very different types of maturing and ageing processes will all play a leading part.
Hundreds of dairies from all over the region will be participating, giving an overview of the heritage that provides the sense of identity of the region, at the spectacular cheese exhibition in Sala delle Conchiglie.
There will be food and wine products such as Garda DOP oil, cheeses served with grappa, the great spit of the Pro Loco di Sernaglia della Battaglia, the bubbles of Consortium Prosecco Doc and tastings at cooking shows with Consortium Asolo Prosecco.
The one-way route will accompany visitors in complete safety in the park of the villa where they will enjoy the products of excellence market, the dairy market, meetings with cheese makers and the farm of Arav – the Regional Association of Livestock Breeders of Veneto.
Competing cheeses will then be sold at a symbolic price, and proceeds will go to charity. Before the opening of Caseus Veneti, a solidarity dinner will be held on Thursday, 23 September.
Admission is free admission but visitors will be required to wear a mask and show their green pass, as provided by current laws.
