In the year that will see the Bassano area on the jersey of an Italian elite champion, the city of Bassano del Grappa is also preparing to step into another major cycling spotlight, the 103rd Giro d'Italia.
On the 27th of May, four days before the final time trial in Milan, the convoy will set off from Bassano to face the 202 kilometers that will lead them to the finish line in Madonna di Campiglio. It will be a demanding and spectacular stage, with four GPM prizes ready to spark the face-off between the contenders for the pink jersey. The "Departure Village" will be located in Prato Santa Caterina, while the citadel of the cycling teams will be located in Viale delle Fosse.
The long pink convoy will climb to Viale dei Martiri, where the two-wheeled snake will descend to Via Barbieri, to cross the two squares and exit the historic centre through Via Verci in front of the Tempio Ossario temple. From here the official start to the race that will continue towards Marostica for a long mountain stage at over 5 thousand meters of altitude concentrated in 4 demanding climbs connected by smaller peaks and troughs with no real time to breathe. They will climb the unprecedented Forcella Valbona, Monte Bondone, Passo Durone up to the final climb of Madonna di Campiglio.
The city is preparing to contribute to the spectacle offered by the Giro d'Italia and show its best side in front of the imposing media audience that will follow the event.
