The Arena di Verona Foundation is pleased to announce the rich program of the 2022 Symphonic Season at the Philharmonic Theater. The intense program features internationally renowned artists and conductors and presents 10 concerts in double evenings from 11 February to 26 November. The shows will be offered on Friday evenings or Saturday afternoons.

The fourth symphonic concert presents two pieces that combined together translate into absolute refinement.

In the first piece, maestro Francesco Ommassini conducts the Arena Orchestra in Arnold Schonberg's "Transfigured Night" (Verklärte Nacht, op. 4). This composition is considered innovative for the time and is interpreted by a string sextet: two violins, two violas and two cellos. The author will become famous as the inventor of the dodecaphonic technique.

To complete the program, Benjamin Britten's instrumental composition "Les Illuminations" (Op. 18) for tenor and string orchestra. It is a refined cycle of songs composed on the lines of Arthur Rimbaud and interpreted by the tenor Toby Spence, who is still one of the most requested interpreters in the world for the repertoire of the twentieth century.
