With 'Ad Oriente. The extraordinary journey of Marco Polo', the Venice Carnival 2024 celebrates one of its greatest travellers.
On the occasion of the 700th anniversary of his death, Marco Polo returns to the lagoon as the protagonist of the Venetian carnival tradition. The theme of this edition is travel, discovery and encounter with worlds previously only imagined. A fantastic journey into the imagination that will turn its gaze to the East on the trail that the then young Marco took to discover new wonders.
The city of Venice, from 27 January to 13 February, becomes the map of this extraordinary journey that will lead visitors through the calli and campi, the streets and squares animated by shows and music, for a Carnival spread throughout the city, from the islands to the mainland. Together we will retrace that exceptional adventure, exploring the creativity of the Venice Carnival, made up of imaginary worlds, fantasies and desires!
