From 2nd July to 1st September 2022, for a total of 8 performances, La Traviata is staged for the 2022 Opera Festival, which returns to the Arena in the last and sumptuous nineteenth-century production conceived by Franco Zeffirelli with the refined costumes by Maurizio Millenotti.

A stellar cast for a work that gives unique emotions: in the role of the protagonist Violetta, Angel Blue, Lisette Oropesa, Aleksandra Kurzak and Nina Minasyan will alternate on stage while the male role of Alfredo will alternate with three authentic stars: Vittorio Grigòlo, Francesco Meli and Freddie De Tommaso.

The opera in three acts by Giuseppe Verdi, with a libretto by Francesco Maria Piave, is set in bohemian Paris at the end of the 19th century and tells the love story between the woman of the world Violetta Valery and Alfredo Germont. Under pressure from Alfredo's father, Giorgio, and with no way out, the woman writes a distraught letter to Alfredo explaining her nostalgia for her beloved Paris. Alfredo, angry with rage, perjures her in front of everyone by throwing money at her feet. Once the truth is known, the man runs to ask her forgiveness, but she, sick of consumption, after seeing him for the last time, dies.
