Tour of the Marmolada range

This tour features two of the most challenging climbs in the Dolomites, often included in the Tour of Italy: Fedaia Pass and San Pellegrino Pass.

Starting from Rocca Pietore, you run immediately into the wonderful gorge of "Serrai Sottoguda", a tight canyon about 2 km long carved into the rock by the Pettorina creek and crossed by a daring little road that leads to Malga Ciapela. Here is the location of the lower cableway station of the Marmolada and the start of the dreaded and highly selective 6 km climb up to Fedaia Pass.

First comes the famous 3 km long straight road with constant 14% slopes, then the hairpin turns that lead right up to the shores of Lake Fedaia. Then comes the rapid Canazei descent, followed by the Val di Fassa as far as Moena where the San Pellegrino Pass climb starts, an extraordinary panoramic terrace at 2,550 meters of altitude.

With a dizzying descent you reach Falcade, a renowned tourist center of the Biois Valley featuring numerous "Bike Friendly Hotels".

Its wonderful plain becomes a major Nordic Ski stadium in winter. A little farther is Agordo, Pope Luciani's town; you then get to Cencenighe where the descent ends and you climb up the Cordevole towards Alleghe and Rocca Pietore.
