Useful advice. It is recommended to procure nautical charts for the navigability of the canals

Starting from Cavallino, gliding over the surface of the water on a sail boat, we flank the small islands rich in vegetation and wildlife, including the sea lavender with its wonderful purple blooms, or even the bluish wormwood and tamarisk. We then proceed between the quiet canals of the fishing valleys with their rushes and typical cane thickets.

Here we lose ourselves in observing the lagoon bird life peacefully based in this area. This is the kingdom of the little egret, the white heron and grey heron, the black-winged stilt, the marsh harrier, the coot and the yellow-legged gull, but you can often also spot the pink flamingos that, organised in colonies, frequent this part of the lagoon.

It is natural to let oneself be conquered by the lagoon setting of Lio Piccolo and undertake an easy, but rewarding, exploration of the canal that leads to Treporti.

Sailing to the north toward the beautiful islands of Burano, Mazzorbo and Torcello it’s time to take a break.

On the beautiful island of Burano the eyes will be drawn in by the bright colours of the multicoloured houses. Mazzorbo, however, is for relaxing, strolling among orchards and vineyards.

Finally Torcello awaits us with the fascinating golden mosaics of the ancient Basilica of Santa Maria Assunta.

At the end of the trip the colours, scents, nature and art of this little world where time seems to have stopped will surely stay in your heart.

It is impossible not to enjoy the quiet and silence that dominate these areas and get lost in this dimension where earth and water merge in a harmonious symbiosis.
