IL SENTIERO DEL PRINCIPE (THE PRINCE’S PATH)

Route details Recommended period Spring, Summer, Autumn, Winter Phone+39 0429 632911

Walking on foot, distance approximately 6 kilometres

The path is the ideal circular route linking the literary sites included in the "Literary Park of the Este Hill": from the Castle of the Troubadours that sang Beatrice, to the Arco del Falconetto del Cornaro patron of the Ruzante; from the Villa ex Kunkler, in which Shelley composed some of his most important works, up to Calaone, with a possible detour to the former Convent of Salarola.

Along the way, you will find some of the most interesting architectural monuments of Este, such as the Villa Vigna Contarena and the Palazzo del Principe, without forgetting the natural heritage, from the historic pinewood to the native flora.

Along the path, you can fully admire the typical landscape connecting the Euganean hills to the surrounding Veneto plain.

Palazzo del Principe

This villa sits on the hill overlooking Este and built by the Contarini family, possibly designed by the architect Vincenzo Scamozzi. The title “del Principe” (Prince’s) is linked to the election as Doge of Alvise Contarini, which occurred while the patrician was living in the residence.
