"On Fire" is the title of the first exhibition entirely dedicated to the use of fire as a means of artistic creation among avant-garde artists of the Second World War.

The exhibition, curated by Bruno Corà with the contribution of Luca Massimo Barbero, promoted by the Fondazione Giorgio Cini and Tornabuoni Art, brings together a precise selection of the most iconic works either made by fire or including the presence of the flame itself.

The exhibition is structured through six sections that allow you to discover Yves Klein, Alberto Burri, Arman, Jannis Kounellis, Pier Paolo Calzolari and Claudio Parmiggiani, brought together for the first time and all tackling the theme of fire.

Naturally fleeting, fire has no shape, weight or density. It has always fascinated artists, both for its potential effects on other materials and as an active presence in works of art. The avant-garde artists of the Second World War managed to grasp both the destructive and generative effects of fire, using it on different materials.

From this point of view, for these artists fire became both the sensitive protagonist and the channeller of innovation in the same transformational process of their pictorial and plastic language.

Although united by the element used, the exhibition focuses, however, on each artist, highlighting their different methods of using fire.
