This moving tour in the Dolomites will take you to discover the places which formed the backdrop of tragic battles during the First World War. Following complex redevelopment work, you can now discover the largest open-air Great War museum.
It is made up of the Lagazuoi, 5 Torri, Sasso di Stria and Tre Sassi Stronghold museums.
The mountain artillery group Command established itself in the very spot where the 5 Torri open-air museum stands, south of the Falzarego Pass, and this was the location of the batteries of cannons trained on the Austrian emplacements of Lagazuoi and the Tre Sassi stronghold.
The paths take you to military strongholds, among open-air emplacements and the trenches, which can be reached on foot or in a fast cabin chair lift.
The tour is free of charge and in one to three hours you will cover shorter and easier paths alternating with other longer and more challenging ones.
The best time to visit the open-air museums is between May and October, but you can also go and see them in the winter by taking the Great War Ski Tour , thanks to the ski lifts.
In summer, there are guided tours with historical re-enactors in costume. Experience history first-hand, following the trenches and visiting the open-air museum of the 5 Towers. Booking only.
