From Wednesday 5 July to Sunday 9 July, the Lago di Santa Caterina (St. Catherine’s Lake) at Auronzo di Cadore will host the Canoe Sprint World Championships for the Junior (17/18-year-olds) and Under-23s (19/23-year-olds) categories.

The International Canoe Federation entrusted this event to Italy in 2019, choosing Auronzo for its excellent organisation of the last few European Championships and its fascinating setting where the combination of sport, landscape and culture is well-established and has long represented a resource for the local economy. This is an unprecedented challenge: the organisation of these sports events on an alpine lake within a mountainous setting is an all-time first for the world championship association that awards the title.

Such a large-scale event will offer young people and their families from all over the world, athletes and audiences, an enjoyable experience in the unique location of the Dolomites, a UNESCO heritage site.
