Follina, a small town at the foot of the Trevis-Belluno Prealps, is a focal point of the religious tourism circuit that leads to the discovery of places rich in spirituality and devotion and of great artistic value.

Here you will find one of the most beautiful holy buildings in Veneto: the Abbey of Santa Maria.

Today's Cistercian basilica with a Latin cross plan was built between 1305 and 1335 on a former Benedictine construction in the twelfth century. From 1915 the parish was assigned to the Servants of Mary, who were committed to the spiritual and artistic care of the monastery.

Today the basilica of Follina is an authentic oasis of prayer and contemplation and place of great artistic interest.

The façade foreshadows the internal structure of the Church: three naves separated by imposing columns that support round arches and illuminated by the façade's windows and rose windows. At the center of the altar we find the wooden altarpiece that houses the sandstone statue of Our Lady of the Sacred Chalice, an object of veneration and pilgrimage.

The oldest building of the complex is the square Romanesque bell tower which rises from the intersection of the central nave and the right transept.

Of particular value is the cloister built in 1268. A curious detail is the small arches of the portico supported by columns that are either individual or paired with different shafts and capitals.
